Spindle turning is the foundation of woodturning, and can provide an understanding of the material that transfers to all forms of turning. This class focuses on honing fundamental skills used in spindle turning, including freehand grinding for sharpening tools using a bench grinder and platform and all of the basic cuts in spindle turning. Through improving technique, the quality of the cut can become nearly flawless, requiring minimal sanding, and the turning experience is more enjoyable. Students will make either a candlestick or a bud vase. No experience required.
