The Gamut
Monday July 22 - Wednesday July 24, 2019
9 am to 5 pm
This class begins with spindle turning, the foundation of all woodturning. We focus on all of the fundamental cuts and shapes. Next, we transfer this knowledge to working on a bowl. We discuss the difference in grain orientation and how it effects the way we approach the wood. We will talk about how to cut the wood out of the log, and how this will affect your design decisions. As always, we discuss the 7 Fundamentals of the Perfect Cut, freehand grinding using a bench grinder and a platform, and basic elements of design. We will be using the Push Cut style of turning to minimize torn grain in the wood and negative impact on the body. No experience required.
